Over the past few months, we've been diligently working on cleaning up the category tree of old and unused categories.  While most of this will go unnoticed by the community, what you will notice is the change from "Miscellaneous" galleries to "Other".  The reason for this change is simple.  The concept of Miscellaneous leads one to believe that it's a junk drawer category for everything under the sun when the intention was to be an "Other" category for deviations that don't fit well in other sub-categories of the tree.  We're also working on u

REMINDER Gallery Makeover Project JournalsGreetings Deviants! 
As I have no doubt most of you have heard from $Moonbeam13's journal, a lot of the galleries here on DeviantART are having a makeover. This largely consists of merging and getting rid of categories, but please take a read of the original journal for more details. :)
I am sure a lot of you have seen these gallery makeover journals floating around already, but here is a definitive list of all the journals so far. Please note that not all galleries are on this list, more may be added later. Also some of these links may be updated in future, and we'll be sure to update the link here as neccessary. :la:

Why is that a Daily Deviation?Having read the title, you're probably expecting this to be a journal filled with familiar information about what to do when you see a Daily Deviation that you don't believe to be worthy of a feature, or impassioned reminders about the subjectivity of art. That isn't what this is about.
Being the Community Volunteer for a niche gallery like Darkroom has been quite an experience so far. I receive comparatively few Daily Deviation suggestions, so I devote a lot of time to hunting down amazing photographs to feature and making sure that I represent as many aspects of the category as possible.
The Darkroom Photography gallery is full of images created using intriguing historical and modern techniques that many people aren't aware of, or have seen or heard of but don't know much about. Part of my role as a Community Volunteer is to promote these techniques and the artists who use them, showing the incredible range of effects which can be created using photographic materials and systems, bot
Odyssey, Clive and PETAFor those just tuning in, I have the privilege of working very closely with the Odyssey II Project with Clive Barker and I couldn't be more excited. The following is my personal opinion on the project, Clive and PETA, so I encourage you to direct any conversation regarding what you read here, to the comments below, so I can respond :)
First, I'm a huge fan of Clive Barker's work.  His artwork and his stories have entranced me for years but beyond that, he's truly a deviant.  *CliveBarker has become an active member of the community, submitting his artwork and commenting on others.  He's a perfect fit in my opinion, but that's not entirely why I'm writing today.
Clive's initial choice for a cause to donate the proceeds of this project to, is PETA and if you've been watching the #ODYSSEYPROJECT unfold, you've certainly seen several opinions in regards to the organization.
